“Dhrishtadyumna said, ‘Duryodhana, Durvishaha, Durmukha, Dushpradharshana,
Vivimshati, Vikarna, Sahaa and Duhshaasana; Yuyutsu, Vaatavega and Bhimavegadhara;
Ugrayudha, Balaaki, Kanakaayu, and Virochana; Sukundala, Chitrasena, Suvarcha,
and Kanakadhwaja; Nandaka and Baahushaali, Kundaja, and Vikata; these, O sister
(Draupadi), and many other mighty sons
of (King) Dhritarashtra -- all
heroes (Veera in Sanskrit) -- accompanied
by Karna, have come for your hand.
“Innumerable other illustrious monarchs all bulls among Kshatriyas -- have
also come for you. Shakuni, Saubala, Vrishaka, and Brihadbala -- these sons of
the king Gandhara -- have also come.
“Foremost of all wielders of weapons -- the illustrious Ashwatthaama
and Bhoja, adorned with every ornament have also come for you.
“Brihanta, Manimaan, Dandadhara, Sahadeva, Jayatsena, Meghasandhi, Viraata
with his two sons Shankha and Uttara, Vaardhakshemi, Suvarcha, Senaabindu,
Suketu with his two sons Sudaamna and Suvarcha, Sumitra, Sukumaara, Vrika,
Satyadhriti, Suryadhwaja, Rochamaana, Neela, Chitraayudha, Amshumaan, Chekitaana,
the mighty Srenimaan, Chandrasena – the mighty son of Samudrasena, Jalasandha,
Sudanda and Danda — the father and son, Paundraka, Vaasudeva, Bhagadatta endued
with great energy, Kalinga, Taamralipta, the king of Pattanaa, the mighty chariot-warrior
Shalya – the king of Madra, with his son, the heroic (Veera in Sanskrit) Rukmaangada, Rukmaratha, Somadatta of the
Kuru race with his three sons, all mighty chariot-fighters and heroes, viz.,
Bhuri, Bhurishrava, and Shala; Sudakshina, Kamboja and Dridadhanvaa of the Kuru
race; Brihadbala, Sushena, Shibi – the son of Ushinara, Patcharanihanta – the king of Karusha, Sankarshana
(Balaraama), Vaasudeva (Sri Krishna) the mighty son of Rukmini, Saamba, Chaarudeshna,
Saaranaa with Gada; Akrura, Saatyaki, the high-souled Uddhava, Kritavarmaa, the
son of Haardika, Prithu, Viprithu, Vidooratha, Kanka, Sanku with Gaveshana,
Asavaha, Aniruddha, Sameeka, Saaramejaya, the heroic (Veera in Sanskrit) Vaatapati, Jhilli, Pindaaraka, the
powerful Usheenara, all these of the Vrishni race;
“Bhageeratha,
Brihatkshatra, Jayadratha – the son of Sindhu, Brihadratha, Baalhika, the
mighty charioteer Srutaayu, Ulooka, Kaitava, Chitraangada and Shubhaangada, the
highly intelligent Vatsaraaja, the king of Kosala, Sishupaala and the powerful
Jaraasandha, these and many other great kings -- all Kshatriyas celebrated
throughout the world -- have come, O blessed one (Draupadi),
for you. Filled with prowess, these will shoot the mark. You shall choose him
for your husband who among these will shoot the mark.’”
